An Introduction
DriveWise is holding our 2nd annual Road Ahead Public Service Announcement Contest to spread the word about safe driving and to do our part in helping to eliminate unnecessary risks while driving. The contest is open to Simcoe County High School Students aged 13 to 18.

About DriveWise
As Canada’s leader in road safety education, DriveWise teaches new and professional drivers how to drive safely and defensively. It operates centres from coast-to-coast and has trained thousands of new drivers using a blend of interactive classrooms, high fidelity simulation, online learning, and private 1-on-1 in-vehicle instruction.

Contest Basics
The Road Ahead PSA Contest is for students aged 13 to 18. Students are encouraged to compete against their classmates by creating an attention-grabbing advertisement that focuses on one of the themes listed below. Your ad must follow the specifications outlined. Entry for this contest is free and students are welcome to submit an entry for more than one category.

Themes & Information

Prizes:

*First Place: $500 Top Finalist: $100

Prizes will be awarded for each category. Winning submissions will be announced at an awards ceremony in Barrie, Ontario. Select entries will be posted online. Winning entries will be featured by the corresponding sponsor.

Contest Themes:
Risk-taking while driving is dangerous, putting drivers, passengers, and pedestrians at risk. We want you to help us create safer roads with education and awareness.

Choose one of the following themes:

Theme 1: Distracted Driving
Texting, using a hand held device (iPod, GPS), eating, drinking or grooming.
Theme 2: Impaired Driving
Alcohol, drugs, emotionally compromised.
Theme 3: Aggressive Driving
Speeding, tailgating, unnecessary lane changes.
Theme 4: Pre-Trip Circle Check
A proactive step that drivers should take before operating their vehicle (spotting potential hazards).

Rules & Regulations

Entry Requirements:
Only students attending a high school located in Simcoe County can participate. Students must be enrolled in grades 9-12 and are expected to complete the ad by themselves. They may get help from a teacher or mentor, but the work must be their own.

Content:
All students participating in the contest should address one of the themes or topics outlined above. The ad should include how students can make a difference in making our roads safer.

Specifications:
No ad is to include any names or personal information.
Use of copyrighted music and material will result in disqualification.

Video Ad:
Length - 30 seconds
Format - AVI, MOV, MPG, WMV, MP4 or M4V on a CD or DVD
Radio Ad:
Length - 30 seconds
Format - MP3, WAV, MP4 or WMA on a CD or DVD
Print Ad:
Size - 5 inches wide x 7 inches high
Colour - Full colour or black & white
Format - JPEG or PDF on a CD or DVD

Teams:
The Video Ad contest must be completed by an individual or a team consisting of no more than three (3) people. Each member of the team must fill out and submit the registration form. Each member must also meet the grade and age requirements.

Cost:
No purchase necessary. DriveWise will not incur any costs associated with preparing and entering your submission. Entry to this contest is free.

Must-have Information:
Each submission must be accompanied by the release form, detailing the student’s name, date of birth, home address, telephone number, school the student attends, grade level and title of ad. If the student is under 18, the form must also be signed by a parent or guardian.

How to Enter:
Use our checklist at the end of this package to make sure you followed all the rules and haven’t missed anything. You will be asked for some personal information before your entry can be accepted; this information will be used for contest purposes only(*also see contest Terms, Conditions and Agreement). - Entering and participating in the Road Ahead PSA Video, Print and Radio contest, sponsored by DriveWise.
- Allowing your name, age, grade level and school to be displayed along with your Video, Print Ad, and/or Radio Ad submission
- Consenting the use of your entry at any media or promotional events, including any possible winner ceremonies, media interviews and publicity events related to the Road Ahead PSA Contest.

Any personal information collected during the course of the Road Ahead PSA contest will only be used for administering this competition, or as otherwise set out in
