The PatrolSim Driving Simulator provides the features and functionality required to support basic and advanced driver training through the practice of improving ciritical driving skills and decision making. The simulator comes complete and ready for training with its driver compartment, reconfigurable instrument panel, high-resolution display system, driver controls and software.
Software
The PatrolSim Driving Simulator runs on a proven driving simulation software platform to maximize use of commercial and non-developmental software programs. The Windows XP OS is used for both the simulator and instructor station. The advantages of utilizing this system include:
- Flexibility - Windows XP provides a built-in security system which can be integrated with an existing IT infrastructure
- Maintainability - IT Personnel already familiar with Windows can provide maintenance for the system as software updates are routinely provided by Microsoft.
- Reusability - Computer utilized by the simulators are interchangeable with standard desktop computers. Third party software programs can easily be loaded to enhance the capabilities of the simulator and instructor station.
- Minimized Life Cycle Support Costs - The Simulator software is forward-compatible with future versions of Microsoft Windows.
In addition to Microsoft Windows XP, the simulators utilize Microsoft SQL Server for student data management and PC Anywhere for remote diagnostics.
Hardware
The compact, ergonomic design of the driver compartment has become the standard upon which all other driving simulators are compared. The PatrolSim Simulator accurately simulates the physical and functional characteristics found in existing vehicle driver compartments. The Simulators driver compartment are designed to ensure safety, provide comfort, and maximize the training experience. The Items present in the driver simulator compartment not critical for training are presented in mock up form.
