For immediate release: DriveWise (http://www.drivewisesafety.com) is proud to announce our first annual Road Ahead PSA Contest, open to all Simcoe County High School students.
Students will create an ad for video, print or radio on one of the four following topics: distracted driving, driving while impaired, speeding, or wearing seatbelts. The finalists and winning ad will be played or printed by it’s corresponding sponsor: Rogers TV, SNAP Barrie, Rock 95 and Kool FM. The winner in each category (video, print or radio) will also receive $500, while the top finalist will receive $100.
Judges include Mayor Jeff Lehman, Councillor John Brassard, Councillor and host of Rogers TV ‘daytime”, Jennifer Robinson, Susan Meredith of the Rock 95 Morning Crew, GM of SNAP Barrie Mark Wretham, DriveWise Senior Instructor Steve Overend and DriveWise CEO Lesley de Repentigny.
“I am excited to be a part of this challenge. Promotion of safe driving is an important message and I am looking forward to the creativity of our Barrie youth. I commend DriveWise for promoting safety awareness and for their on-going contributions to Barrie” stated Mayor Jeff Lehman.
The contest runs until May 22. Five finalists will be selected in each category for an award ceremony held on June 6, 2012. The winner and finalist will be chosen live by the panel of judges. “We are so appreciative of the time, effort and contribution from all of our partners and sponsors. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we know we will get some tremendous entries,” said DriveWise CEO Lesley de Repentigny.
The goal of this PSA Contest is to help educate and create awareness to eliminate risk-taking behind the wheel. High Schools from across Simcoe County are getting on-board to help promote this initiative, as are local businesses and organizations.
